Help us get to the World Scout Jamboree 2023

Hi! We are Ivan and Nikolai, brothers from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, UK.

We were excited to learn that South Korea will be hosting the World Scout Jamboree in 2023. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

We knew that there would be many applicant and very few places, but “Nothing ventured…” so we applied. Then we found that we had BOTH been invited to a “selection day” where we would take part in team exercises and trials. The selection process was very competitive and a lot of fun.

We both accepted that our chances were slim and if one of us was lucky, the other would be sad to see him go.

Then… just before Christmas we received a telephone call! Ivan had been selected to represent Cambridgeshire AND Nikolai to join the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk composite group! Only three Scouts were selected from our District. For two to be from the same Scout Troop is pretty cool, but for those two to be brothers is awesome!

Now we have the huge task of raising the funds. Each Scout must raise £3,800 each (that's £7,600 for us!) for their own trip. As UK Scouts we need to raise more in order to help subsidise those from less affluent countries.

We are planning several fund raising activities for the coming year including

• Bag packing in our local supermarket

• Growing and selling seedlings, plants, fruit and vegetables

• Selling home-made wood-craft gifts

• A Russian themed food and music afternoon

• Game nights

We have many more ideas that we will be adding to the list as we progress.

Any donations will be so wonderful and very gratefully received.
