Help us get to the 2024 Curanderismo Conference

Papalotzin Healing Collective is a grassroots independent Latine collective. We believe in the collective model and building a community of healing practitioners. We recognize that there is a need for bilingual, multicultural healing practitioners, especially in historically marginalized neighborhoods in Chicago. Our purpose is to create accessible, intentional & empowering environments where people can come together and be in community. As a collective of artists, educators, holistic healing and community advocates, we aim to make a positive impact by sharing sacred transformative healing practices and spaces, community care, and leadership development opportunities. Our activities help facilitate and inspire personal healing and growth, foster empowerment and help individuals connect to their own ancestral and traditional medicines.

In June, some of us will be traveling to New Mexico. In Albuquerque we will be attending the curanderismo traditional medicine program at the University of New Mexico. For a little over a week we will be doing the following:

Learning about the history of Curanderismo, and developing a deeper connection to the traditional medicines of Mexico and our ancestry.

We will be learning about limpias, empachos, sobadas, and herbal remedies.

Connecting to our ancestral medicine to strengthen our individual practices and also share the knowledge we learn to empower others to facilitate their own healing.

Volunteering in the healing fair that takes place with over 30 curanderos offering healing at an accessible community fee

Connecting with elders, teachers and a whole community of healers, which will broaden our network. This will build bridges that open to the opportunity for us to bring curanderos and other healers here to share their knowledge and medicine.

We will also be traveling to one sacred site to connect to our studies, culture and the land.
