Help us attend the Craniofacial Symposium Retreat
Donation protected
My husband, toddler daughter & I all have Apert Syndrome which is a genetic condition that affects how your skull & finger/toe bones grow. We are part of the Children’s Craniofacial Association which serves & empowers individuals & families who are affected by facial differences. Every year at the end of June, they have a retreat weekend where families who have members with facial differences or individuals with facial differences themselves get together & learn & get motivation from each other. We have the enriching opportunity to attend educational symposiums given by individuals that are in the Craniofacial community & medical doctors & experts on the latest medical advances/methods & learn from one another. Best part of all, we get to meet with other families/individuals with the same exact & similar conditions sharing stories, tips on everyday hard challenges with syndromes & enjoying the weekend with people who know how you feel in the comfort of friends without a heavy volume of stares, whisperings & social worries. We have contributed to the community ourselves by video chatting & meeting in person with schools across the country about Wonder, the value of true kindness, the beauty in diversity & Craniofacial conditions-building bridges between kids that are scared of people with facial differences & the individuals themselves as well as the ripple effects of bullying in hopes to decrease it. We are hoping the community could kindly help us with this. This will be our vacation for this year as well as an enriching & educational trip & this will be Mina’s first ever in person retreat where she will significantly meet more kids who look like her & also see & learn that there are kids & adults with other types facial differences. We have approximated the numbers for the plane tickets, hotel room, Uber rides & food for Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Please & Thank you so much!
