Help us get our son the best help we can find.

Hi, my name is Amanda Glasgow, and I am fundraising to raise money to get my youngest son and ourselves into an Intensive Outpatient Program in Evergreen, Colorado. We have found a world-recognized psychologist Dr. Terry Levy and his team that offer a treatment format to provide help for children and families needing specialized services unavailable where they live. For more than 20 years families have traveled to Evergreen to receive therapy for attachement-related trauma. This intensive outpatient program involves 30 hours of therapy in 10 days, 3 hours of therapy per day for two weeks, with a break on the weekend. Our family is in desperate need of intensivie help to get our son the help that he so needs and deserves. We need the intensive family program so that we can learn the best way to parent our child with attachment trauma. You see when a child is seperated from their primary care giver and not having their basic needs met it leads the to struggle to trust the ones who are supposed to care for them. Jack didn't have a fair start from the very begininning with his prenatal exposure to many illegal substances, no prenatal care, maternal incarceration, and the list goes on. Jack deserves to receive the best therapy that can be found and we feel that for the first time in a very long time we have hope after finding Dr. Terry Levy in Evergreen.

I am not one that ever asks for help from anyone, but the cost of the program is $15,000 alone. We also have to relocate to Evergreen, CO for two weeks and pay for lodging and meals. Another expense we have is flying Mike home from his job overseas so that he can be present and learn how to be on the same page of what we need to do. This is going to be an emotional two weeks and a lot of hard work...but in the end it will be worth it to give our son the help and tools that he needs, and us the help and tools we need to be the best parents he deserves.

Jack has been diagnosed with anxiety, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, ADHD combined type, mood disorder, depression, and Reactive Attachment Disorder. He sees his regular therapist weekly and his psychiatrist every 3-6 weeks. He has recently been put on waiver services to get community mental health resources here in Lawrence, KS. He has also been approved to be admitted for a PRTF in Olathe, KS called Kids TLC whenever a bed comes available (which could be 3-6 months from now). Jack has been in crisis since August, with a hospitization at the end of September and beginning of October that only made things worse. While at the KVC hospital he was hit, scratched, and bitten by other kids while there. He was also taught racist remarks and that was something that we had never had to deal with before he was hospitalized. He came out more traumatized than when he went into the hospital.

Jack has a complete good day every 2-3 months, but most days are filled with meltdowns and anger. I have been beaten by my son and at times he has been suicidal and homicidal. He just turned 8 years old the beginning of April. We have invested in getting a service dog trained that helps him tremendously, but not enough to end the meltdowns or anger.

Due to things beyond his control even before he was born he has suffered a lot of trauma, but he wants help so that he doesn’t have to struggle with everyday life and wants to be able to control his emotions and anger and work through them in a safe and therapeutic way that keeps himself and others safe.
