The Four Trees project


We all have this one little dream project that sits somewhere in the corner of our mind.


“Four Trees” was born from the friendship of four friends who met while they were living in East Africa’s Kenya, a few years back. While our African adventures were over, we all quickly realized that a lot of the inspiration and drive we acquired over that time was not.


We were broadly exposed to local community projects as well as environmental issues so we thought we could come together and create a project to direct our lives towards something that makes a little more sense than our dusty suits.


Nicaragua came up naturally, both for its beautiful nature and its growing economy that would allow us to integrate quickly into the local scene. The idea is to build an Eco-Lodge that would be completely off-grid and where we would run different projects such as Permaculture courses, Wellness retreats, a Free English school for local villages and a Sports area to appeal for the local community.


We talked the project through for a couple years, and finally caught a flight to Managua. It didn’t take much time before we bought land and began excitingly planning all the amazing work that lay ahead.


Unfortunately, a political crisis started a couple of months after our purchase, and forced us to adapt and wait for the first year. We opened a restaurant, and then another, in order to keep the project alive until we could finally start construction. Eventually things got better and the restaurants were working enough to consider starting the project. 


Well, everyone knows what came after! Like everyone in every country in the world once Covid began, we had to learn and adapt - once again. Some of us worked online, some went back to their home countries, some stayed to keep the restaurants alive. Complicated year right?


We took the decision to move ahead with the construction, even with a smaller capital than planned. We scaled down to only one floor instead of two for the building - not as fancy as what we initially had in mind, but the idea was to do it in order to live on the land and start the project anyways! 


We will have a beautiful house overlooking the valley in the beach jungles just outside of San Juan Del Sur, one of the most beautiful areas of the Nicaraguan coast. We also own restaurants, have partnerships with many different local tour operators and have all the knowledge of the area to ensure you have an amazing experience!


If you feel like escaping after this crazy pandemic, or whenever you feel comfortable, Nicaragua really is an amazing option !
