Help Us Get Our Momma’s Life Back

Most people know me as MJ but I’m the oldest daughter of my beautiful 42 year old mother Elizabeth. Not all of you know my story but those who do would know that for the last couple years, I have finally been able to have a relationship with my mother after not being able to have contact with her for many years.

I’m currently away from home and extremely blessed to have a job that supports family first.

Earlier this week, my mom suddenly become very ill with meningitis and was life flighted to hospital is currently in the neuro ICU. I apologize if you are close to me and finding out through this post. I’ve been processing this event and not getting much sleep. So far she has undergone two surgical procedures- one to include a burr hole with a drain to dispose of infected fluid surrounding her brain. My mom is currently intubated and at this time we do not know the extent of any brain damages and/or if she will fully recover. The journey ahead is going to be difficult. The last time I felt this much pain in my heart is when I lost my Aunt Amanda in 2020 to an opiate overdose.

My mom does not have health insurance and she’s unemployed due to her life complications and her husband also recently lost employment.

It’s extremely hard for me to ask for help, but I’m exhausting all resources. I am wanting to start this small fundraiser to help with costs for my brother and sister to travel to hospital (flight or gas), and costs to help my mom with discharging to outpatient services, medications and physical therapy until insurance is in place. My mom also desperately needs help with getting her home prepared for return (a new recliner and cleaning supplies). Lastly, I don’t want to think about it but IF she were to pass away, we would need help with funeral arrangements.

If anything at all, please keep her in your prayers for a full recovery and for God to heal her emotionally and physically from all this pain.
