Help Us Get Our Heat and Power Back On

It is winter here in Michigan and our power and heat have been shut off.

We had been on the DTE lsp payment assistance program through United Way for several years, due to our limited finances. We had always done really well on it, but in late 2018 United Way suspended the whole program. Immediately we owed a massive back amount to DTE.

We were able to get on the DTE shutoff protection plan, but the monthly payments were nearly three times our usual. Paying them 'as much as possible' only satisfied them for so long, and they shut us off the morning of January 8th. Now to get our power and heat turned back on, we have to pay the full amount that has accrued over the years. It is over $2900.
