Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to share.
Our 6-year-old baby boy, Romie Rome was diagnosed with DIPG last year after what started as subtle changes in his eye and movement. What followed was a moment that has changed our lives forever, a call telling us there was a mass in his brain, and soon after what no parent wants to hear, the devastating reality that this tumor is inoperable and terminal.
Since then, Rome has been fighting with a strength that humbles us every single day. While still being his sweet, silly and loving self.
He has gone through radiation, hospital stays, feeding tubes, and multiple clinical trials including an intensive treatment at Stanford. We’ve seen moments of hope where he smiled, went back to school, and got to just be a kid again and we’ve also faced heartbreaking setbacks as the disease has progressed.
Most recently, we were told the cancer has spread to his spine, and we may only have months left with our sweet little guy.
This has affected every part of our family. His sister, Siena, is also navigating something no child should have to face. We are doing everything we can to support her, protect her, and hold some sense of normalcy for her while we walk through this as a family.
We have tried to carry this quietly and stay strong for him, but the reality is we can’t do this alone anymore.
Between ongoing treatments, medical care, and daily expenses, the financial burden has become overwhelming. Juliette also lost her job in December, and as a family, we are doing everything we can to be present for Rome during this time.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to help with medical costs, bills, and to explore any possible treatment options that could give us more time with him.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep Rome in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean more to us than we can ever express.
Thank you for loving our baby and standing with our family during this unimaginable time.
With love,
Gabriel and Juliette
