Hi, my name is Jess, and I’m reaching out on behalf of our beautiful boy, Maxx.

Maxx is a vibrant, affectionate 3-year-old who came into our lives as a rescued puppy from Spain. From the moment he arrived, he brought boundless joy, love, and energy into our home - and quickly stole all of our hearts.

Last year, Maxx had a procedure to remove a grass seed from his nose, during which a small fungal mass was unexpectedly discovered and removed. Thankfully, he recovered fully. Since then, we’ve been extremely cautious to avoid anything that could put him at risk again.

However, just three days before our son’s 7th birthday, Maxx suddenly became unwell. He began experiencing eyebrow tremors and lost coordination - alarming signs that something wasn’t right. We rushed him to an emergency vet, who advised us to seek urgent neurological care.

After a follow-up with our local vet, it became clear that Maxx’s symptoms could not be diagnosed without a specialist neurological assessment and an MRI scan. The vet suspects that the previous fungal infection may have spread and is now affecting his brain, which could be causing the neurological symptoms we're seeing.

We were devastated to be told to “prepare for the worst,” with possibilities ranging from a few weeks to live to - if we’re lucky - a full recovery. Of course, we’re holding on tightly to hope and doing everything we can to find answers.

Unfortunately, our pet insurance has declined to cover any further investigations, as they’ve classed this as a pre-existing condition. This means the financial burden of Maxx’s urgent specialist care - including consultations, imaging, and possible treatment- falls entirely on us.

This is where we need your help.

We’re asking for your support to fund the neurological assessment and MRI Maxx so desperately needs. With answers, we can make informed decisions about his care- and hopefully, give him the chance to live a long, happy life surrounded by the people and furry siblings who love him so deeply.
