After the surgery the initial prognosis was positive. Although she was paralyzed on her left side. However, the next day she developed swelling in the brain which required another surgery to save her life. They had to remove part of her skull so that the pressure in the brain could be reduced.
She is currently in intensive care recovering from the surgery. Although still in critical condition, the doctors are optimistic with her condition and future prognosis.
Unfortunately, because this occurred outside of the US, her health insurance will not cover the majority of the medical expenses. Nor will it cover the cost of transportation for her back home.
To get her home requires special medical transport which is estimated to cost $50,000.
For those of you who know Maureen, she is one of the kindest and most giving persons around. A wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She is currently in a foreign land and doesn’t speak the local language. Please help us in getting her back home where she is covered by insurance and can get the treatment she desperately needs.
All donations collected will go directly towards the medical transportation costs(ambulance, plane, required medical staff) to get my mother back to the United States. Specifically to Orlando, FL which is close to our hometown of Merritt Island.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
