Help Get Libby Back on Her Paws!

I’m Brett Boone and I have started this campaign for Libby, a Shih Tzu-Yorkie cross, who is the constant companion - the "sidekick" - of one of my very good friends, Leonard (Len) Barry. If you know Len, you know Libby, as you rarely see one without the other. Len is one of the kindest and most generous people I know, and Libby is dear to his heart.

Sadly, at the end of last week, Libby was involved in an unfortunate accident that resulted in a broken elbow on her right front leg. I and some of Len's other friends and their four-legged companions were waiting for Len at his cabin. When Len and Libby returned, her furry friends were so excited, they rushed through the door. Being much larger than Libby, they accidentally pushed her down some steps, resulting in a serious fracture. It was a freak accident and we feel terrible for Libby and Len.

The following morning, Len took Libby to a veterinarian in nearby Milton. Here is the x-ray of Libby's fracture:

She was referred to a veterinary orthopaedic surgeon and that same day was taken to St. John's. Here is Libby, heavily medicated at this point, waiting patiently to see the veterinarian in St. John's. Such a good girl!

It was determined that Libby only had the one fracture: to the ulna. On Monday, January 9th, Libby underwent surgery.

Veterinary and travel costs to date exceed $9,000.00. After follow-up veterinary visits, the total cost is expected to reach $10 - $11,000 (assuming no follow-up surgery is required).

Libby is a tiny dog with a huge personality. She accompanies her dad everywhere and loves the outdoors! The cover photo of Libby was taken on the Skerwink Trail in Port Rexton. She practically flies along this scenic 5-km trail, tail a-waggin'.

Libby is beloved in her community and has many friends of both the two-legged and four-legged varieties. We are all concerned about her and her dad. We have started this campaign so that the many people who care about her have a way to help. A donation in any amount to help offset Libby's veterinary expenses would be greatly appreciated by Libby's family and friends.
