Last week, my senior dog (13 y/o), Kassie, became suddenly lethargic with pale gums. This was very unlike her. Even the vet said she acted young for her age before this, she was always very excited for food, jumping all over the place, happy barking. We brought her to the emergency vet and they found that her liver enzymes were extremely elevated and that her liver looked abnormal on an FAST ultrasound. They couldn’t say why, but they sent us home with some antibiotics and an appointment for a full ultrasound with a vet an hour away.

It has been a week since then and she seemed almost completely better, but her liver enzymes are even higher than they were before (as seen in the photos). So we are going to the full ultrasound on Thursday.

We have already spent $1000 on testing, emergency vet and medications. The ultrasound this Thursday will be another $500 and we will need to travel. We may need to get a biopsy after that, which would be another large amount. I am an unemployed student and my family will have trouble footing these bills as housing+food costs in Canada are insane right now. I know that she’s old, but she really seems like she has a few years left in her if she can get through this.

Please don’t feel pressured to donate, but if you have a small amount you would be willing to part with, it would be really, really appreciated. All funds will go to the credit card debt for the tests she’s already had done, future tests/treatments for this issue, and any travel costs.
