Lakesha's Trial of Life
Our mom, Lakesha, was unexpectedly taken away from everyone who loves her. On March 11th, 2026, around 1:30 AM, 911 dispatch received a call reporting a woman screaming for help. Once officers arrived around 1:36 AM, they found my mom lying in a puddle of water. Officers then pulled her from the puddle onto a driveway. Nearby neighbors expressed the feeling of helplessness as they were not able to provide a blanket for my mom. One trooper states that my mom was outside on the ground until MMR arrived on the scene between 1:46-1:50 AM.
Hours prior to this incident, the city of Saginaw was hit with a storm of heavy rain, leaving major flooding in most areas, as well as very large puddles alongside the roads.
As this is an active investigation, Michigan State Police refuse to provide us any further details such as the condition she was found in, among many other questions my family has, leaving us with very few answers about what truly happened to our mom.
During her time here with us, my mom faced many challenges and setbacks. Struggles that made many people around her treat her less than she deserved due to a lack of understanding and ignorance. Selflessly caring for everyone around, only to be met with judgment and little to no reciprocation of the love and light she poured into others. Her children would say she was too kind for the circle of people placed around her. Those who knew my mom knew her spirit to be refreshing, being able to overturn negativity into something lively. Nonetheless, my mom was a fighter.
Oftentimes there would be financial hardship and struggles with bills, yet my mom always found a way to provide. Providing shelter and meals for multiple family members who needed assistance at times. Her acts of kindness made her a true lioness.
We deeply appreciate the ones around my mom who loved her for who she was. The ones who didn't treat her based on judgment and were able to see her for her and not her struggles.
All donations will be going towards a special memorial for my mom, one that she deserves to honor her, her name, and her legacy, as well as lawyer fees in hopes we find answers and get true justice for my mom.
