Althea Henry Memorial Fund

Hi my name is JoAnn Henry Thomas, I never thought that I would find myself tearfully writing this plea on behalf of my sister Althea Henry, who tragically lost her life due to domestic violence on the island of Antigua.

My sister was a beautiful, caring and loving mother of three children. She was a trusting individual who treasured friendships and loved life. She was a very happy, outgoing person. On Fathers Day, June 20th, 2021 she was brutally murdered by her live-in boyfriend.

Althea was a person of faith who forgave her boyfriend after he tried to kill her four years ago, when he brutally attacked her and left her at the roadside believing she was dead. Unfortunately she wasn’t as lucky this time when he savagely attacked her with a cutlass (machete), cutting her throat and hacking her to death. He wasn’t satisfied with her death, so he waited until her 21year old son returned home from work and attempted to murder him as well. By the grace of God, he survived his severe injuries after hours of emergency surgery, and is on the road to recovery.

At this time it has been very hard on our family, and we’re asking for help, and any and all donations are welcomed and would be greatly appreciated. Anyone who can’t give we appreciate your well wishes and prayers at this time. 100% of all donations raised will be used to settle Althea’s burial expenses, counseling for the kids, lawyer fees, and aid in her eldest son's recovery, and help with expenses for her younger son. Althea sons are left with little support and challenges due to her untimely death. Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence, and sadly it can happen to anyone, don't wait until it’s too late to tell someone you love them, and you care.
