I (Jiho) am part of a DID system. Our host (Jini) was diagnosed two years ago with Dissociative Identity Disorder which is a trauma-related (PTSD) dissociative disorder that causes a person's brain to split into parts in order to sustain severe trauma. This disorder can cause a number of adverse symptoms, but the way that we experience them and the frequency we experience these symptoms make DID, for us, a genuine disability.
Recently I was fired from my job and I am currently in the process of trying to sue for wrongful termination. In the weeks leading up to my termination, my requests for reasonable accommodation were denied; my symptoms and experience of my disability were belittled by my manager; my coworkers were making derogatory comments (one coworker even threatened my life); and my attempts to raise concerns about both the mistreatment I had been dealing with and my physical safety around specific coworkers were dismissed.
I was so paranoid at work that it actually ended up triggering dissociative seizure at work, a medical emergency. Instead of being concerned and helpful, my manager accused me of being willfully lazy by saying that I can't "just sit on the floor doing nothing". Even after learning that it was a seizure, he still insisted it was "unacceptable behavior" and even compared my medical emergency to a high schooler causing "unnecessary drama". This incident is what led to our termination on November 26.
I don't want to go into too much detail about all of the awful comments my manager and coworkers said or the things they did, but there are a number of incidents beyond just the one I wrote here. All of this behavior is not only unacceptable but also qualifies as an act of discrimination against my disability.
I am not very financially stable and because of how bad my condition has become, I am not able to work much outside of what I absolutely need to pay rent. So, I am asking for your help in funding this lawsuit. Any amount you can spare can help immensely in covering the cost of an attorney, covering legal paperwork fees and/or supporting my mental health recovery in the aftermath of all of this.
Also, if anyone has a law background and has any legal advice they want to provide, please reach out. I'd be so grateful for any help I can get.
Anyone who donates, offers advice or even just spreads the word/link on their social media would be helping us so much and we are so very appreciative!
