Update 3/21/2022 10:00am : First let me share our deepest gratitude on behalf of Jess’ family for the overwhelming support and generosity you have all shown. We are near to the goal of covering the cost of the medical evacuation. Truly amazing. Thank you. Yesterday Jess was evacuated on a medical jet from Mexico to MN and made it to the University of MN Medical Center yesterday evening. Jess remains sedated in the Neuro ICU at the University. We are all comforted by the fact that she has made it safely to MN and in the competent hands of her new care team.
Jessica Weich and her family need your help right now. Jess accompanied our family and friends on vacation to Tulum, Mexico this week. Just hours after this photo was taken Jessica suffered a yet undiagnosed serious health crisis which necessitated ambulance transport almost 2 hours away to Cancun. In the first few hours in the small private hospital her condition became more serious. From there she required yet another transfer to a somewhat larger hospital. Her dad, Troy Weich, and family, flew out first thing to be with her and are there with her now. The health system in Mexico is much different from ours in the USA. Everything is fee for service and cash is demanded upfront. Thousands of dollars have already been spent. She is currently sedated in a tiny ICU with few English speaking clinicians and we are frantic to get her home to the US to receive the urgently needed assessment and care she needs. To do this she will require medical air evacuation which is extremely costly (in excess of 30k). She desperately needs to get to a US hospital. Please give what you can to help Jess’s family get her home. Our hearts are filled with worry and support for our friend Jess and her family right now. No donation is too small.
