A few days ago my dad was in Mexico when he suddenly collapsed and was unable to move. He was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Guillain Barre Syndrome. It’s a disorder in which the immune system attacks the body’s nerves. This harm has caused muscle weakness and paralysis. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mexico where expenses quickly added up to $20,000. Due to the treatment care and costs in Mexico, our family elected to hire a private air ambulance to get him transported to Monterey, CA. He is currently on a mechanical ventilator, as he can’t breathe on his own. His recovery may take at least 6 months to be mobile again.
