My name is Megan, and I’m reaching out because my daughter and I, along with our four cats and small dog, are facing foreclosure on our home due to unpaid property taxes. We have until the 31st to find a new place, and the reality is setting in that we could end up on the streets if we can’t make this move happen. Both my daughter and I struggle with mental and health issues, and I’m terrified of what could happen if we’re left without a safe place to go. Out here, it’s all too easy for vulnerable kids to fall into dangerous situations, and I want to do everything I can to protect her.

We just want to go home to Anahuac, Texas, where my grandmother has offered us a place to stay until I can get back on my feet. It’s not just about us—my grandma, great uncle, and cousin Dover are all struggling with their own health and challenges, and I’ll be able to help care for them once we’re there. They’re all we have left of our family now, and being together would mean everything to us. The funds we raise will go directly toward travel expenses—whether by plane or train—and hiring movers to get our belongings from storage to Texas.
