My name is Emily, and I am reaching out for help as my family faces an unexpected and life-changing challenge. During the holiday visit to Alabama in January 2025 my husband Jason suffered a CI stroke causing paralysis to his right side. Since then, our lives have been turned upside down having to stay here, far from our home in Oregon, trying to figure out how to get back to our support system and the care Jason needs for his recovery that is just unavailable in Alabama. I have tried several fundraisers with no avail. Our family’s have been helping us make it through these difficult times, however they are struggling themselves. I am trying one more time to hopefully get the blessings that can help repair my husband and our family.

We are currently working with a lawyer to help Jason receive disability benefits, but we have been told the process can take up to a year. In the meantime, we urgently need to return to Oregon so Jason can access better medical care and our son Xander can get back to school. Our family—Jason, our five-year-old son Xander, and I—are doing everything we can to return to Oregon, where our older children and grandchildren are waiting for us. The journey is long, and we need help covering the costs of fuel, lodging, and food for the 2,700-mile trip. Once we arrive, we will also need assistance with housing deposits so we can settle in and Jason can begin his rehabilitation with the support of our loved ones and better health care options.
