Help Us Get Devon Regan His Custom Racing Chair

You can make a difference for Devon by donating today to Codys Promise!

Devon Regan, a freshman at Windham High School, just finished his first high school track season by taking 6th place in the seated 100 meter at the state track and field meet in Columbus, Ohio. The team at Cody’s Promise is seeking donations so that we can equip Devon with his own custom racing chair in support of his competitive efforts over the next three years.

Earlier this spring, Cody’s Promise, a 501c3 organization, presented a new custom racing chair to Canfield and MCCTC senior Cody Piver and we are excited to partner with the community to give Devon this same opportunity. Most seated athletes in Ohio have to lease the equipment because parents and schools cannot afford to make such a significant purchase. Together, we can level the playing field by ensuring that athletes like Devon have new and comfortable equipment just like their non-disabled peers.

Devon was born 3 months premature and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy Spastic Displegia when he was a year old after his parents and doctors noticed that he wasn't reaching his developmental milestones. From the very beginning, Devon has been a go getter and has never let anything get in his way. Despite his disability he stays very positive and like most high school boys, he loves playing video games and hanging out with friends.

Devon love sports with basketball being his favorite until he found a new obsession in track competition, thanks to Coach Dougle Hankins. Coach Hankins has been after Devon to compete in track since he was in the 5th grade but since Windham does not have a middle school team, Devon had to wait until he in high school to compete. When the time came, Coach Hankins was right there finding out information to get Devon started and Devon’s family had never seen him more excited about anything else.

Devon’s mother Jessica says, “it has always been hard for Devon to be a part of something - especially sports in school due to his disability but I honestly couldn't have put Devon in a better school district. The students and staff at Windham have always been awesome with Devon making him feel welcomed and everyone just treats him like a normal kid. Devon also has the biggest fan club!”

Cody’s Promise is happy to join that fan club and to ensure that Devon gets the equipment he needs to continue to excel as a high school athlete.

Please donate today so that we can get Devon's chair in time for next season!!
