Help us get Craig the BEST care

Donation protected
For those of you who aren’t aware, my twin brother Craig Wilson was in a bad accident at the motocross track Sunday that left him paralyzed from the chest down. He was taken to an amazing level 1 trauma center in Colorado Springs where is getting great care. If you know me, you know Craig is my hero. If you know Craig, you know he is a badass and has been through several deployments at a Green Beret WO-5, including getting injured as the result of an IED blast. The same incredible strength and discipline that made him a brave soldier is going to push him to recover. Unfortunately, Craig got hurt doing the one thing that brought his happiness, motocross. The accident did not happen as a result of carelessness or recklessness, but was simply caused by the way he landed coming off of ajump. Sadly, Craig had just gotten a new truck and only had 10 hours on his new motorcycle. Craig has spent 26 years serving our country, many of which were attached to 10th Group Special Forces out of Fort Carson before being forced to medically retire. As you can imagine, it has been difficult to keep him down. Craig had his second 8 hour surgery Thursday in an effort to repair the damage to his spine and spinal cord. I truly believe that if anyone can get through this and walk again, it’s my brother!!!

Our time is now spent advocating for Craig for him to get even basic care now that he is in PCU. The nursing shortage and overall decline in healthcare has become more apparent than ever. Physical Therapy has seen him only twice despite an order for regular therapy. He MUST get moving and go to a rehab that has a specific program for spinal cord recovery in order to get the best outcome. We are finding wait lists up to 2 months secondary to COVID and staffing shortages. Our family is willing to do whatever it takes to give Craig the BEST chance at walking again. Craig is now on the waitlist at Craig Hospital Spinal Cord Specialty Rehab and University of Louisville Frazier Rehab Institute Spinal Cord Recovery and Research.

While Craig has insurance through his government job, they do not cover the entire cost of his stay in ICU and will not cover the Air Medical Ambulance needed to transfer him to rehab when he is ready. The VA will not cover anything as his injury is not service related.

I am asking for donations to help cover the cost of his hospital stay and air ambulance. No amount is too small.

He spent almost half of his life serving our country and now I want to make sure he gets the care he deserves.

If you are not able to donate, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Paige
