If you remember 30+ days ago, @holomua_outreach sent out an emergency kahea to help Royalty. The Mama of Holomua Rd and our beloved big gyrl. Unknown to her owners, the amazing and hardworking alakaʻi of Holomua Outreach, when she was giving birth that her uterus was in danger and a couple days later ruptured because she still had unborn babies she hadn’t given birth to yet. So she was rushed to emergency care and some amazing souls donated to pay the vet to clear that bill.

Unfortunately, her owners had to make the hard decision of euthanasia or surrendering her to @mauihumanesociety to save her life as the vet was charging $6,000+.

It has been a hard time for Royalty’s owners being able to still keep up with her kuleana to mālama poʻe because it had seemed like they wouldn’t be able to get her back after she recovered or if she recovered.

Thankfully we remained steadfast to keeping up with her recovery and was contacted today letting us know that she is recovered and we can get Royalty back this coming Thursday.

If it’s not clear, our alakaʻi are part of the Holomua Rd houseless community and not at all capable of covering this cost to get Royalty and her puppies back on their own.

So we are reaching out to community for donations. Every $5-$10 makes a huge difference in reaching our goal of $4,463. The minimum we need is 50% of this total and if we can raise the full amount with the help of this community leaving them with no balance. This would be the blessing.

Yes, we could probably find another way to get Royalty and her puppies back but we truly wouldn’t have them here today if not for this payment process Maui Humane Society has in place to help owners needing to surrender their dogs to get the proper medical care they need to live. So, even though we don’t have the means we want to try and have faith that community will hold us up.
