As some of you saw on facebook when I posted the accident.
On april 13, 2026 between the times of 8:30-8:50pm, my car and 7 others were involved in a hit and run DUI accident. The driver of the car was removed from the vehicle by bystanders and contained for a time. SEVEN 911 calls were made before the cops finally showed up but by the time they showed up he was long gone. I have 6 neighbors affected by this, and we're all devasted to say the least.
I'm currently still in shock, trying to gather information as much as I can on what my options on obtaining a new vehicle. While I have full coverage I do not have rental coverage so this is where I have to concede to my pride and ask for help.
My car is essentially my lifeline. I use it for work and daily travel. I use it for my son, Niklaus, who is autistic cannot handle the overstimulation of public transportation. He'll handle short train rides but the bus is out of the question, he wont even get on them if they do that beeping for the air release. He immediately has a meltdown.
We have multiple appointments coming for him for therapies and evaluations as well as wellness visits that are further than usual due to a new agency we are now working with to get him code 95 medicaid certified. We cannot miss these appointments and I simply cannot afford all the uber rides to and from the appointments due my job drastically cutting hours.
Please, if you can help me secure a down payment for a new car I would greatly appreciate it and I will be eternally grateful. I'm still in shock and feel so overwhelmed and lost even though I'm on autopilot trying to get by.
A share or even an uplifting comment can help. Yes my insurance will likely cover what's left on my current loan for the car but they likely will not be replacing as it is only worth between 11-15k as per KBB.
Thank you so much for reading. I appreciate any and all help. Thank you
