Help us get Amaya the medical therapy she needs
Donation protected
My best friend Jozie is asking for support to care for her amazing baby girl, Amaya. Please see her story below and consider donating or sharing the post. Thank you so much!!
———————————
As we were on the way to the hospital for the 5th time this week, I decided to tell you all what’s been happening with our baby girl and reach out for help.
Recently, our one-year-old daughter Amaya was assessed by a rehabilitation therapist and was categorized as high risk for Cerebral Palsy, which cannot be definitively diagnosed until she is 2 years old.
She was also recently diagnosed with having absence seizures and has been prescribed medicine, which she will have to take daily for the foreseeable future.
We are desperate to get Amaya extra medical care to help her reach her full potential.
We are hoping to raise $20,000 to pay for three weekly sessions of a mix of therapies for a year. Including Cranio-sacral therapy, Chiropractic treatment, as well as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and massage. Additionally, we hope to provide her with any medical care that may benefit her.
While there is no guarantee that Amaya will be fully able bodied, or whether she will be able to walk or even sit independently, what we can do is try to get her the best therapies possible to help train and teach her to use her body to maximize her physical future.
We love Amaya unconditionally and we are doing all that we possibly can to provide what she needs to maximize her potential, but she needs more than we are able to give.
It hurts knowing that her future could be extremely different if we had more money, so this is our plea for help from those who can.
Please help us get our little girl the help she needs.
We sincerely appreciate any donation that you are able to give. Every bit counts.
From our hearts to yours,
Jozie & Diego
AMAYA’S JOURNEY:
We have already shared the story of Amaya’s birth with many, but for those who do not know, we got off to a rocky start. Amaya was born without air, taking the doctors 10 minutes to resuscitate her and we spent the first week of her life in the ICU.
When the day finally came to take her home, our journey of life with Amaya really began. Watching this little girl grow has been truly amazing, but as time has progressed, obstacles continued arising, leading us to where we are today.
When Amaya reached 6-months, she had not met many milestones for her age. Over the course of the past 6 months, we have had chiropractic treatment and a sacral-cranio therapy which has been benefiting Amaya in ways. But as more time passed, we became more aware that there may be deeper issues.
With the help of a kind and concerned pediatrician, we recently spent 5 days in the hospital, where doctors ran various tests on Amaya, including an EEG exam and MRI. Soon we will have results and will be able to see Amaya’s brain activity and if there are any other conditions we need to be aware of.
While we still have a long wait to see what Amaya’s physical capabilities will be, we are trying to be as proactive as possible and do our part in ensuring that our daughter reaches her full potential.
Thank you for allowing us to share Amaya’s journey with you. We welcome and appreciate your support.
** Becca will receive the funds and directly transfer them to Diego, as gofundme does not disperse funds to Costa Rican accounts.
