Hey everyone!
It's your favorite maker, healer, and organizer Alix Shabazz! I am co-owner of CocoaBean Skin Care. My life partner T and I started this business as a way to survive poverty in 2017. Neither of us have been any formal business training. Outside of advice from our friends, we have been learning how to run a business as we go. We are currently being penalized for not knowing how to pay sales taxes for the state of Wisconsin since 2017. We had planned on hiring an accountant to get us on track with the things we could not do on our own at the end of this year, but the IRS apparently could not wait for its payment of $2,931.00. Even though there are billionaires who pay less in taxes than I, someone who has only known poverty, they took their payment without any warning. They did this last Friday without our knowledge. Meanwhile, over the weekend bills continued to be collected from that account making our account more and more negative and getting hit with fees. Summit Credit Union has refused to refund us the fees back since it has exceeded a certain amount.
We are two people who have only served our community for more than a decade. We have turned down jobs and business opportunities that would have gotten in the way of our community organizing because we both are committed to our part of creating a world without violence and systemic oppression. Please support us in making our account positive so that we do not continue to get charged overdraft fees by our bank. Thank you to our community for your continued support.
