Help Us Get a Rescue Van & Bring More Dogs Home Safely
In 2025, Barney’s Furry Friends rescued 229 dogs and cats - pulling them from overcrowded shelters and off the streets in California, as well as from northern communities here in Canada.
In 2024, we saved 150 animals.
In 2025, that number grew to 229 lives saved.
This growth is something we’re incredibly proud of — and it’s only been possible because of community. Fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, and supporters have all played a part in giving these animals a second chance at life.
As we look ahead, we’re dreaming bigger — and one of the most important tools we need to keep going is our own dedicated rescue van.
Why a Rescue Van Matters
A dedicated rescue van would allow us to:
Safely transport more animals at once
Respond more quickly when animals are at risk
Reduce transport stress for dogs and cats
Lower long-term transport costs
Give our rescue more independence and flexibility
A rescue van means more lives saved.
Our Big Dream
With a rescue van, we’re hoping to do something we’ve never been able to do before - drive to California ourselves, document the journey from start to finish, and bring home as many dogs as we can in one trip.
From the shelters, to the road, to their arrival in foster homes, we want to share the full rescue story — the reality, the work, and the hope behind every life saved. Transparency and storytelling are a huge part of who we are, and we want our supporters to truly see what rescue looks like behind the scenes.
How You Can Help
We’re launching this GoFundMe to help kickstart fundraising for our rescue van. Every donation — big or small — brings us closer to making this dream a reality.
If you’re able to donate, we are deeply grateful.
If you’re not, sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
Thank you for believing in our mission, our passion, and our dream. We’ve never felt more ready to help more animals — and we can’t wait to show you what’s possible when community comes together.
With love and gratitude,
The Barney’s Furry Friends Team
