Help Us Fund Next Year’s Civil Rights Pilgrimage!

Hi! My name is Serena Cardoso and I am a therapist and educator at Regis College. This spring, I had the incredible honor of leading a group of students on a Civil Rights Pilgrimage through Georgia and Alabama—a journey that was transformative for all of us. Together, we walked through history, standing in the places where enslaved people were bought and sold, where foot soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement risked their lives for justice, and where the fight for equity and human dignity continues today.

For many students, this trip was their first deep dive into our country’s painful yet powerful history. They engaged with elders who lived through the movement, explored museums that challenged their understanding, and spent each evening reflecting on what it means to be a changemaker in today’s world. They built community—cooking meals together, sharing stories, unlearning harmful narratives, and committing to the work of justice beyond the trip itself.

This experience is life-changing, but it cannot happen without support. We are raising funds for our upcoming Regalos event on April 5th, which helps make next year’s Civil Rights Pilgrimage possible. Every dollar raised ensures that students—regardless of financial background—can participate in this powerful journey.
