Help us fund my terminally-ill dad’s funeral
Donation protected
Hi, my name’s Sascha Wassermann-Kremen and I am fundraising for my terminally ill father’s funeral. He was diagnosed with cancer just a few months ago and is now sadly in palliative care with only a matter of days left. We are absolutely devastated.
One thing my dad was passionate about was his commitment to the Jewish faith, and I want, more than anything, to give him his last rite in keeping with his religion. In Judaism, those who pass must be buried within three days and have a ceremony in a synagogue. As you can imagine, the costs are incredibly high, and with Dad being unable to work over the past months in combination with large medical bills, we have been really struggling to make ends meet and have no savings left.
My dad is a loving, caring and kind man who had such an interesting, but difficult life. He was born in Russia during the Soviet Union, and in his late teens, moved to Israel with his family so that they could keep their faith, and then, he immigrated to Australia to ultimately make a safer, better life for me. He was always involved in the Russian Jewish community here in Sydney and loved socialising with his friends - especially cooking for them.
My family and I would be so grateful for any donations to help us give him his last rite of passage. We want his passing to be mourned, and his life to be celebrated, in the way that he always wanted.
To give an idea of where the funds will be going, it is approximately $16,000 for a plot in a Jewish cemetery, and the ceremony and treatment of the body with be approximately another $6,000.
Thank you so much in advance. My dad is very loved by all of his family and friends and will be hugely missed.
