A graduation short film by Christos Grammatikopoulos & Virginia Rimboi
Hello :))
Our names are Christos Grammatikopoulos and Virginia Rimboi, and we are two film students currently based in Berlin. We’re currently raising funds to complete our graduation short film titled Making of.., a deeply personal and political mockumentary.

The Film
Set in the 1960s, Making of.. takes the form of a behind-the-scenes documentary, chronicling the production of a fictional Old Hollywood film titled Honey Bunch. It revisits an era of glamour and artifice—when big studios controlled images and identities—through a queer and critical lens. But rather than romanticising the golden age of Hollywood, the film unearths its mechanisms, interrogates its norms, and offers a vibrant, liberated alternative.

The Inspiration
Growing up, I was always fascinated by fame—especially the kind of mythic fame reserved for iconic actresses. I was drawn to their aura, their fierceness, and the sheer force with which they survived an industry largely built against them. They were admired, adored, scrutinised—but above all, they performed. Not just on-screen, but constantly: to maintain status, meet expectations, and survive.
This film asks:
• How often are women required to perform in today’s world?
• How does society push people to the edge, forcing them into narrow categories and endless roles?
• What if the rigid standards Hollywood enforced never existed?

A New Vision
Set in a stylised 1960s universe, Making of.. reimagines a film set where camp, absurdity, and authenticity collide. It’s an ode to every woman who has dared to defy convention, to speak her truth, to be messy, brilliant, and unapologetically herself. The film gives space for emotional rawness, complexity, and freedom—rejecting stereotypes and celebrating difference.
Rather than upholding a heteronormative ideal, the film centres on a diverse cast of characters, many of whom exist beyond traditional categories. Through interviews, on-set footage, and moments of chaos, we explore what truly went on behind the scenes: the tensions, the love, the egos, the joy, the heartbreak.

Why the 60s?
The 1960s were a turning point for cinema, but they were also a time of strict norms and harsh industry standards—especially for women and queer individuals. The film confronts the curated image of “the ideal woman,” challenging the industry’s history of exclusion and artifice. By reconstructing this era through a queer, inclusive lens, we expose the cracks in the system and imagine something freer, funnier, and more human.

Tone & Style
Making of.. is a celebration of contradictions. It is both sincere and ironic, political and playful, glamorous and trashy. It embraces the camp, the spectacle, the tragic, and the absurd—without ever losing its heart. Through its hybrid documentary-fiction form, the film gives voice to characters that feel real, flawed, and full of desire.

Personal Significance
This project is incredibly personal to me. The characters I’ve written are rooted in truth, resistance, and deep emotional experiences. They are inspired by the women who raised me, the icons I grew up watching, and the friends and communities that surround me today. In their own way, each character is a political statement—a refusal to be erased or simplified.

Ultimately, Making of.. is about identity, visibility, and the right to be seen, loved, and remembered—in all our glorious complexity.
To build this world — a world where our characters can shine, scream, fall apart and come together — we need resources.

Every contribution will go directly into the creative heart of the production:

  • Costume and production design, to reflect the glamour and decay of 1960s Hollywood
  • Renting specific locations and camera equipment
  • Transport for the crew and equipment
  • Post-production, including editing, colour grading, and sound design

We’re a small, passionate team working with love, commitment, and a lot of imagination — but we can't do it alone. This is a small-budget student film in structure, but not in soul.. It affirms that queer stories, stories of women, of outsiders, of rawness and ridiculousness and resistance — matter!

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to finishing this project and sending it out into the world where it belongs.

If you can’t support financially, sharing the campaign, spreading the word, and sending good energy are also precious acts of solidarity <3 <3

Thank you for your support in helping bring this vision to life.
With love and cinema,
Christos & Virginia
