Help us fund Cat’s chemotherapy
Donation protected
Hello, we are Char and Laura and I have set up this page for one of our oldest and best friends Catherine better known as Cat. We have been friends for over 20 years since school and have grown and learnt life together across the decades until this new path Cat has had to walk alone since 2020.
Just a few months after the birth of her beautiful daughter Erin, the world went into Covid lockdown. After waiting many more weeks than what was normal, Cat had to sit in a hospital alone and receive the news no one wants to hear, she had bowel cancer at only 33. Cat and her wonderful husband Dan and their new baby girl had to isolate and Cat had to bravely battle surgery and chemo as a new mother without the arms of her family and friends to support her.
Being the warrior she is, Cat beat bowel cancer and went into remission. Slowly she built back her strength and her life and continued on with her nursing degree as she wanted to give back to the wonderful NHS who helped her. After finishing her degree and settling into her nursing career m, she found she had been blessed with another baby, little Rory who was born in September 2023. After a very complicated birth something wasn’t right, Cat was in pain and after a lot of tests and scans, the worst news came knocking at the new family’s door again, the bowel cancer was back but had moved to her liver.
Devastated doesn’t cover the feelings of Cat and her family and friends, how could this happen again, she should have been enjoying her newborn bundle of joy and not facing another long battle.
With strength and humility this little family have soldiered on, Cat has spent the last 12 months on a gruelling schedule of chemo in the hope it would shrink the cancer, just to be told after a break in chemo due to infection, that it had grown back to its original large size.
Another absolutely awful blow. Now Cat has got to change up her chemo to shrink the cancer enough for her to have the lifesaving surgery to remove it, the problem is the new type of chemo she needs isn’t available on the NHS for her type of cancer so we are trying to raise some funds to help Cat and her family with these fees.
As her friends we want to help in anyway we can. Any donation no matter how small will mean Cat has a chance to get her life back and be the wonderful mummy, wife, daughter and friend that she always has been.
Thank you so much for your support x
