Two months ago, our dad suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke. By God’s grace and the care of the doctors, he survived and underwent emergency brain surgery to drain a large hematoma. The stroke affected his speech and mobility, but his recovery has been nothing short of remarkable. He’s now almost fully himself again—able to talk clearly, walk short distances, and actively engage with us. It truly is a miracle.

However, he still faces a serious risk.

He is currently still in the hospital in Brasilia (where he lives), waiting for a critical heart procedure. Although he was briefly home, he had to return due to a bladder infection and has remained in care when they realized a bleeding in his stomach. The upcoming procedure includes a cardiac ablation to treat his arrhythmia and a closure of the left atrial appendage to reduce the risk of blood clots. These clots could lead to a major ischemic stroke, which we are trying to prevent at all costs.

Unfortunately, the usual medication to reduce clotting is not safe for him—it could trigger another bleeding, including a brain bleed. That’s why this surgery is essential: it will stabilize his heart and protect him from life-threatening complications.

While the hospital portion is covered by insurance, the full cost of the doctor’s fees is not. We need to raise $5,000, which we’ve already committed through a bridging loan to avoid delaying the procedure. We’re now asking for your help to cover this amount and give our dad the best chance at a full recovery.
