On the morning of Sunday, June 14th, our friend Augusto was wrongfully taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) while leaving his home. Augusto came to the United States from Angola in 2022 to seek legal asylum and has been working hard to build a safe and stable life for himself in Maine while his case is moved through the due process. He graduated from South Portland High School in 2023 and is enrolled in the automotive program at Southern Maine Community College. Augusto is a caring friend and wonderful member of the South Portland and Portland communities.
