The original post and updates for this GoFundMe will be made by Scott's partner and not by the creator of this account; his partner and immediate family are in hiding for their safety.
Hello everyone, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to anyone reading this with the intent to help. I'm going to release what details I can, and I'm sorry if my explanation doesn't fully answer all your questions. There are only so many that I can safely release, as advised by our legal counsel.
Roughly a month ago, my fiancé, Anthony Scott Bennett, many of you know as Dallas, was threatened by a very dangerous white supremacist gang member. He was targeted for the LGBTQ stickers on his car. My fiancé was forced to defend his life after having his life repeatedly threatened. He is now incarcerated.
He was on his way to get our child.
The rest of my family was advised to flee our home due to the gang's highly aggressive and dangerous nature that my partner had now crossed. We were wise to do so, as our house was violently retaliated against a few days later. We now can't go back at all, not even for any of the belongings we had to leave behind.
Dallas is currently in single-cell isolation because this gang is the most dangerous prison gang in the state of Texas. He's in as good of spirits as he can be, but isolation is hard on anyone. His family, friends and I are working on bonding him out as quickly as possible so his mental health isn't impacted.
We've come a long way, but we're still short about 2k. Isolation is extremely strenuous on someone's mental health, and it's the goal of his family and loved ones to bond him out as quickly as we safely can so that he may be in the comfort of loved ones and more ably work alongside his attorney so that we have the best chance at justice.
I'm coming forward about this because my partner is a good man. I'm coming forward because I spent nearly every day with him over the past few years, getting to know and love his gentle soul and devotion to his family. My fiancé was terrified for his life, for his family's lives. He and his defense team feel optimistic that the truth will come to light, and it will be proven he was defending himself.
Thank you for reading. Something we've been saying to one another while he's been in there is that every day we keep fighting, we're one day closer to having our family back together again. And I am so, so ready for that day. I am a transgender, disabled man living in Texas, and my husband is my best friend. He's a friend to many that he's had the opportunity to meet, and loved by so, so many.
Any surplus funds gained from this will be given directly to Anthony to help him rebuild his life and support his family.
We are waiting until his attorney lets us know it's safe to bond him. We are by no means wealthy, but his public defense might be in jeopardy if the judge decides that if we're wealthy enough to bond him out, he can obviously afford a private attorney. I will explicitly say, we cannot afford that.
So, when the amount is collected, if we don't immediately bond him out, it's due to us making sure that he can be adequately defended in court. So, we are aiming to bond him out as soon as his attorney gives us the okay to do so.
