Help Save The Avatar Centre-A Haven for Healing

It is with a heaviness on our minds & faith in our hearts that we reach out to our friends, families & allies in the world today. Our Plant Medicine Healing Center in the Peruvian Amazon has endured great stress from the environment, & neglect since the start of the covid lockdowns & is now in desperate need of immediate repair & we need your help to do it. The Avatar Centre became what it did because of everyone who passed through and infused the land and its structures with their energy and prayers.

Our Story
In March of 2020 when the "pandemic" hit Peru, and international borders closed, we were just beginning a retreat, and immediately at the end of it, we were forced to close down the center with no warning. We had no idea the journey that was ahead of us at that time. We had been prepared and on track for a successful year, and all that was stopped immediately. We began exporting natural medicines as a path to make ends meet, but the courier system had also virtually crashed during that time in Peru, and packages were lost left and right, bringing heaps of stress  to our family. We then, after 10 months without any income through The Avatar Centre center, had to avoid investing what we had left into repairs, and even had to retract from childcare and general maintenance support as well(if something broke, we just had to leave it), and had to scrape together the last of our savings to fly to the U.S.  to seek immediate opportunity offering our services, which is exactly what we did. If the people couldn't come to us, we would go to the people. Since then we have been transient, moving from house to house, town to town & now country to country in search of stability, community, consistent work and a place that feels free and connected to nature like our homestead in the Amazon, though a few extra amenities would be nice.

The Amazon Can Be Rough On Structures.
Though building in the Amazon is incredibly affordable compared to anywhere else in the world, the environment can be hard on a home, between the constant pressure of termites and heavy rains, & the impact of high humidity, & running solar in an often overcast environment. Since the center was built, we had an annual basic maintenance budget of around $5,000, so after 2 yrs without repairs, we can expect around $10,000 worth of maintenance related repairs/renovations to address. Currently this feels daunting, and we could feel ourselves pulling away energetically from this place which has also brought so many good memories to our lives, mostly because of money, and this is why we are reaching out. We are not ready to let go of it, and we know that many hands make light work, so let's unite our energy, & prayers, & put our money and actions where our mouth is. Pamela & I have already invested $2,000 in getting the project jumpstarted, by way of a small loan from a good friend. 



Our First Few Milestone Goals (This list will be added to with each goal we meet)
#1: $2,500- Goes to the removal of the old and the replacement of the entire roof (7meters x 17 meters). As this is the most urgent job to address, & we need to pay the workers at the end of the job, which will take 10 days to finish, we are setting a milestone goal deadline at 4/27/2022 - Roof Already Paid For!!! Thanks to all of our gracious donors!

#2: $500 Repair the Maloka Guest House- reconnect solar electricity, stain wood, and replace rotten deck boards:  (a 6 meter diameter octagonal structure with a high conical roof)

#3: $2,300 Main Lodge Repairs & Renovations. 

#4: $900 Pool Deck Replacement(our spring-fed earthen pool is a source of clean water to bathe in & has healing clays which we use for purification & removing toxins from the body. We serve flower baths on the deck to help cleanse a persons energies & attract beautiful visions before ceremony :(that's right the whole deck & pool project can be done for just

#5: $3,000 Solar Elec. System Repairs & Upgrades: New Batteries, Wood Replacement for solar panel frames, solar invertor maintenance, Extra Solar Panels. 

#6: $800 Repair & expand the Kids Park Play Area: The kids park is all made of wood, and has been painted by the kids. It has a treehouse, a climbing ladder, a suspension bridge, a tire swing, a small tower, a DIY Percussive Instrument made of pvc pipes, & a little birdhouse. Our goal is to repair the rotten wood, extend the roof over the suspension bridge(which needs to be replaced), add a small roof over the tower (to protect it for years to come) treat the entire structure for termites, repaint it with with the kids with whatever colors they like, add a slide & a figure 8 cement scooter track around and through the structure. Next to the structure, we intend to put a special garden area for the kids to learn how to grow & tend their own food. 

If we surpass our $10,000 Goal, we will invest next into a community project, and then resume with further developments at the center.

#7: $5,000 Community Permaculture Education Project: In this project we will share freely the principles of permaculture, teach the art of composting, soil rehabilitation, Natural Building, Discuss the negative impact of plastics on the environment & prepare natural house cleaners, natural medicines & more

#8: $10,000 New Open Air Kitchen/Dining Area with large tiled kitchen, cabinets for storage & solar fridge. The Open Air Kitchen/Dining area will be open concept & surrounded by botanical gardens. The large dining area can be used for workshops, gatherings & educational events. 

#9: $3,000 New Tiled Bath House with 2 showers Next to Ceremony House

#10: $400-Rebuild Ayahuasca Cook Hut - All the medicine we make at Avatar Centre, which often goes to serve over 800 cups of ayahuasca per year, is prepared and prayed over in this open air tambo. The roof acts more as shade from the weather more than anything else while cooking, and helps to keep our huge stack of firewood needed for the cook session, nice and dry.

#11: $600 Install Lightning Rod On Lodge(surrounding trees have been struck before)

The Avatar Centre Was Built On A Dream
We built the Avatar Center between 2013-2017 on pure inspiration direct from spirit & with countless hours of blood(literally, lol), sweat & tears invested. We poured our hearts & for many years all of our savings into this place to build it, maintain it & keep it running, so we could keep serving(but also so we could have & provide a safe offgrid place during the time of crisis we psychically knew was coming). We had the opportunity to serve so many people who I would consider light bearers...people with tremendous gifts to heal and uplift this planet in times like we are in now. These light bearers came to us, because in many cases they had suffered many traumas and had either lost their way in various capacities, or they were feeling ready to delve into a deeper understanding and refinement of their own innate gifts. Often the two went hand in hand, as we all have to heal from first the cause of our dysfunction, so that we can become aligned with the truth & clarity that purpose brings. To help our brothers and sisters of this beautiful planet to clear away the fear and resistance and pain of trauma, and offer them a loving and guiding hand on their way was always a tremendous honor, and we are blessed that so many of them are still connected to us today, and therefore we still get to witness all the ways that they bloom, & have grown to serve their own communities. I share all of this, because this place, The Avatar Centre, which was our home and embodied our space of love for 8 yrs is a place for healing, personal discovery, transformation, new beginnings, & deep connection

 

A Place Of New Beginnings

While our 7-yr old son has traveled with us to many places in the world on our journey to bring healing to all those in need, The Avatar Centre is the only place he calls home. For Pamela & I, this is the site of many years of training. Today we are initiated medicine man & woman, ayahuasceros, curanderos, healers, guides, teachers, friends, allies, parents, husband & wife & so much more, & this place helped hold a container and foundation for our development. We began our relationship at this place, conceived our child in the main house, & first channeled many of powerfully healing icaros that we sing today in ceremony.

 

All We Need Is Available Through The Great Web Of Cosmic Interconnection

For 2 yrs we have thought about releasing this crowdfund to help release some of the pressure of maintaining the center, yet knew that there were many people in need, so put our needs aside(the wrong decision), however by doing that, we left the center un-maintained through 2 rainy seasons, as we were doing everything we could, just to get by on the road. Now we are in a position where work for the next couple of months isn't looking stable until the summer, and we are receiving calls and emails from our friends in Peru that our place is in desperate need of repair. This is the reason for our current outreach.

 

A Place For Healing

The elaborate gardens & forests have been planted, mostly by myself, ever so intentionally with the mindset of future abundance & food & medicine sovereignty, upon the principles of permaculture. Each tree was planted with the prayer that one day that tree would both feed and offer shelter to future generations, like Xander. In this day & age, to have a place with clean water, clean air, and the opportunity to be free is a great gift. Upon my path of learning, I discovered how integral a place like this, set into nature is for each person's healing process. For to get to the heart & roots of one's illness, we have to assess all aspects of how that person lives in relationship. Nature has a way of healing us all on it's own, because it reminds us of who we really are, how little we really need, and helps to calm our minds just enough, to get out of the way, so the consciousness within our cells can grow and allow us to heal.

 

Our Original Vision

Our original vision of The Avatar Centre, was not to be the owners of a private enterprise. We always felt ourselves more stewards of that piece of earth, and took that responsibility seriously through soil rebuilding & reforesting efforts, & sustainable ayahuasca production. Our vision was always for The Avatar Centre To Become an Eco-Village with a Healing Center at it's heart and center. We wished to provide people with a safe place to live for short or long periods, to heal & restore their inspiration, re-wild themselves, & develop new levels of gratitude and servitude. So it never became an eco-village, & we have released that vision, realizing that the vision will likely manifest elsewhere in our lifetimes.

 

A Call To Action

In the spirit of The Avatar Centre, & all it has embodied for so many, and the spirit of that vision of an Environmentally Conscious and Regenerative Service Oriented Community with a plant medicine church/healing center at it's heart & center, I want to invite you to help us to rebuild our ceremony house roof(our place of healing & prayer), & restore The Avatar Centre to it's glory, so that it's legacy may continue.

Our first Donors game began on April 22, & will run until we have received 18 donations of exactly $50, which adds up to $900USD. So once we reach that milestone of 18 donations at $50 exactly, our Anonymous Donor will match that $900 with $900 more, turning that original $900 into $1,800. Our next matching game will be announced at the conclusion of this one.

There is Always Something To Give

One thing I learned living so many years in Peru, is we always have something to give, and we can always lift someone up, and very often much more than we have previously been willing to let go of, or than we previously realized because we were too busy comparing ourselves to the wrong people. When I arrived in the Amazon with no more than $1,400 in my pocket(an amount that would put me in poverty in the U.S.), put together with $600 in Pamela's & a very small amount of financial support from Pamela's parents in the months that followed to get the project off the ground, and I saw the poverty that many people lived in, I felt very compelled to help. I began looking around, and realizing that it was a luxury to have a roof over my head, clean clothes on my body and abundant food to eat. I only had enough belongings to fit in 1 suitcase, but that wasn't unlike many people in the village there, even after they had lived there for years or even generations. They just didn't seem interested in accumulating things. I began thinking with the philosophy that if I have any excess, I have something to give, and we always seem to have something in excess, whether money, or time, or love or something else. As a result of committing to this philosophy, I soon was able to contribute to putting food on the table for other families, donate towards fixing an elder widow's roof, and provide work & opportunities to many people who had very little. We have raised our son with this teaching, and he is proving to be a very service minded individual with so much empathy and compassion in his heart.

 

To Nurture The Fire For Service In All

Many peoples fires for service have not been fed or nurtured very much in their lifetimes, or their fires have been squelched by others for so long, that they’ve forgotten what it is even like to feel such a calling. It is my honor and purpose to help to nurture that fire for service in humanity through all I do, because it is that fiery light inside of each of us, which allows us to dream of a better world, & to see the reflection of heaven in the here and now on earth. In your eyes I see something so divine, and so wondrous, and just to witness the miracle of you, helps me to remember the miracle within me.

Most things in life have little value if they are not shared. Money is like this, love, hugs, art, etc... Crowdfunds are no different! They simply do not get the views or raise the funds they deserve if people like you don't take on the cause as your own, share it with love, and take a leap towards freedom & generosity. One thing that I have learned in my path, is that the energy of hoarding what we have is very connected to the energy of sickness. When one hoards, they trap and limit flow in that area of their body, mind or their environment. The truth is that nothing is truly ours to begin with, we are all just passing through,  and all physicality is just energy which we are but channels for, which is exactly why we need to release it, all energy must flow, and should not be projected into a trap, for all energy is inherently alive.  Holding on, is a pattern often driven by fear and trauma, sometimes deep within the ancestry, so if you feel like holding on to something, most of the time, it's time to change the way of relating, and surrender a bit. The most divine miracles can occur if we can just release control to spirit.

Wise Advice
Some of the more financially successful individuals I have crossed paths with that were also rather joyful people, were always tithing, giving away at least 10% of what they earned on a regular basis. All of them said the same, that when they stop giving, is the moment the flow stops. I have seen this in my own life too, & each time I followed such guidance, abundance opened for me in my life as well, but the real trick is to give to people who you know will pay it forward.
