My name is Autumn Smith. I'm the oldest child of a single mother who has raised my brother and me singlehandedly for 27 and 23 years. Every day for these long, grueling years, my mother, Janet, has been driving an hour to and from home to her job while also driving us to work. She is the only one who can legally drive, and she has always done her best to try and get us ahead financially. However, luck has never been on our side.
Sadly, on Friday, July 18th, the transmission in her car blew and left her stranded on the bridge coming back from her job. With the help of a towing company, she went to inquire about how much it would be for a new transmission to be put into the car. They said $3,500 for a used transmission and $7,000 for a brand new one. Even with all three of us working, we don't earn that much, and it's hard for us to catch up between our rent, groceries, daily necessities, and bills.
We've never done this before and it's our last option to be able to afford to fix the car. We were hesitant to even do this because we don't enjoy asking anyone for help. But it's our last resort. Please, help us. We are/will be grateful, and it will only be used on the transmission. We don't have time for leisure and wouldn't be able to use the money for anything else.
