Help Us Finish New Horror Film "The Leaching"

Hi, I am Evan Showalter, writer/director of The Leaching.

"The Leaching" is the fifth film I have made as an independent filmmaker in Chicago. My other two released films are titled "Ante Mortem" and "Bad Music Terry," both of which are now in festivals. "Jitter" and "Just A Drop" are in post production. Donations will be used to support Chicago actors, create life-like special effects, build immersive sets, rent equipment, and pay entrance fees to festivals and screenings.

Plot Synopsis

After waking up in a grave on her father's isolated forest property with no idea of who she is or how she got there, Vivian must use her limited memory to piece together the nightmarish truth, all the while being tormented by the undead, a giant leech monster, and her "father." Over the next few days she will uncover the framework of a truly nefarious supernatural scheme, but will it be too late?

Progress So Far

"The Leaching" began filming in September 2023. However, this is my most ambitious project yet, by far, so we have been filming scenes about once a month. We have filmed about 70 percent, with a handful of scenes left to be filmed in March, April, and May, with the official release slated for fall of 2024.

We have every exciting plans for where the film will go once its finished, so keep an ear out for when we share the news.
