My name is Melody, and right now my husband and I are facing the hardest time of our lives. We are currently homeless and living outside, doing our best to survive each day. The cold has been brutal—we’ve both suffered frostbite twice already, and there have been nights when the only place we could find a few hours of sleep was in a hospital waiting room. The shelters in our area are all full, and even though we’re at the very top of the housing list, we haven’t been placed yet. On top of all this, I am battling cancer and epilepsy, which makes every day even more challenging. Being disabled and on the street is something I never imagined would happen to us.
We are reaching out because we truly need help. Your support would allow us to get my husband’s car fixed, so at the very least we could have a safe place to stay while we wait for housing assistance. The funds would also help us afford temporary shelter and food, just to get us through this incredibly tough period. We are so close to getting the help we need, but right now, we have nowhere else to turn.
It’s very hard and embarrassing to ask for help, but I have no other choice. If you are able to support us in any way, it would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading our story and for any kindness you can offer.
