On November 23, 2025, our lives changed in an instant when a fire swept through our duplex. We are so grateful that everyone—including our beloved dog—made it out safely. But in the aftermath, we found ourselves with almost nothing left except each other. The Red Cross was able to help us with a couple of nights in a motel, but we are now searching for a pet-friendly place to stay so we can keep our family together. Our dog is confused and scared, and we want to make sure she feels safe and loved as we rebuild our lives. Need a 2bd, 1 or 2 ba. Our rent was under $1200 but I don’t know if we can find that around Modesto. We don’t qualify for low income and have no children.
We lost nearly all of our belongings in the fire, and we’re facing the challenge of starting over from scratch. Right now, our most urgent need is finding a place to stay that will welcome our dog. We also need to replace basic essentials, but it’s hard to know where to begin when you have nowhere to put anything. Despite everything, we are holding onto hope and the kindness of others.
We are incredibly grateful for any help or support you can give, whether it’s a donation or simply uplifting words. Some of our neighbors showed us such kindness during the most traumatic moments—offering water, a blanket, a restroom, and even slippers when I had to leave the house barefoot. I wish I could remember everyone’s names, but please know how much your compassion meant to us. Thank you for considering helping our family as we try to move forward from this tragedy. Please, and God bless.
