About a couple weeks after Sabbath’s 3rd birthday he began to limp and cry out in pain. I immediately took him to the vet for x-rays and we couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary . We started him on pain medication and restricted his activity hoping it would help. He was not improving and I was sent to a neurologist. The neurologist had suspected that he had suffered a fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE) (a spinal stroke) and suggested we start physical therapy and exercising him. Almost 10 days after we saw the neurologist his mobility declined tremendously overnight. He needs help walking/getting up and is dragging both his back legs. This obviously changes the neurologist suspicions and he’s concerned that his condition hasn’t improved and only worsened. We need money to go forward with an MRI, treatments, walking assistance devices and physical therapy. I’m worried that if we wait any longer we could reach a point of no return since we don’t know what’s going on him and need and MRI to confirm his diagnosis. It’s been an emotional journey so far. We went from playing fetch in the park to needing help to stand up over night. When it was suspected that he may have had a spinal stroke we at least had hope that he would heal with time. Now we are back to square one and left with more questions. I know times are extremely rough right now but even just keeping him in your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. I miss him greeting me at the door and being so excited to explore the world with us. I know some people might think “he’s just a dog”. But he keeps me grounded when the world seems insane and he’s our baby.
