Hi, my name is Kim and in the early hours of Sunday, November 3,2024 I was woken up to my house on fire. The house was engulfed in flames in mere minutes and I wasn’t able to grab anything besides trying to rescue my dogs from a burning house. My five year-old therapy dog stormy unfortunately, lost her life in the fire, and my one year old pitbull was stuck in an active fire zone for hours until he was returned to me late Sunday night by animal services. The house is completely damaged and all is left part of the foundation and the chimney I lost everything I own, including my beloved dog. sustained burns to my hands and face and have severe smoke inhalation. My landlord is not responding to my calls or returning my rent. We were not offered emergency housing medical care or vet care on scene . Now most of the agencies are saying that it’s past the timeframe to provide supports. They suggest I give custody of my traumatized pitbull to the SPCA and live in a shelter. I have no money and my sister has kindly paid for a motel room for four days. I have to leave Friday morning as a hotel is booked solid for the long weekend and there’s no other hotels available. I don’t have any friends I can stay with so I will be homeless with a traumatized dog a couple of days. Any help is beyond appreciated as I don’t wanna have to give up my traumatize dog. I need to find a place to live so I can start rebuilding my life and recovering from this very traumatic experience. The funds donated will be used for shelter, food, vet care, transportation and other basic necessities like clothing, toiletries and eventually furniture/household appliances once I find a place.
