HELP US FIGHT THIS BATTLE FOR BEN

Hello everyone.

I am reaching out to all who are willing to help. My family is raising money to assist us as we navigate through this very difficult journey.

My 9-year-old son Ben is a cancer survivor and a true warrior. He always has a smile on his face, and he’s the life of any party. Ben has survived 3 brain surgeries since the age of 2 years old, 2 brain tumors, and 1 aneurysm. After 5 ½ wonderful cancer-free years, we found out this past August that Ben had a recurrence of two nodules in the same area as his original tumor in 2014.

My little guy now needs surgery for another brain tumor that is cancerous. His diagnosis is Anaplastic Ependymoma Grade III, a rare illness that is found in approximately only 1,300 children each year. Ben also has a condition called Encephalomalacia that is caused by brain trauma and results in the death of brain tissue. The tissue needs to be removed or it can spread to surrounding brain matter. The prognosis of approximate survival ranges from 27 to 993 days.

We are prepared to do whatever it takes to fight this. Ben needs to be treated by a specialist which means that we’ll need to travel out of state for several months and live at or near the hospital. Caring for Ben is my full-time job. His sister Sera and I will be living away from home for at least 3 months without income, and we need assistance to live and pay bills while we continue to care for Ben.

With all the numerous tests, doctor’s visits, and frightening diagnoses, Ben remains upbeat. If you didn’t know he had cancer, you would think he was a perfectly healthy little boy. He’s in the 4th grade, and his favorite subjects are STEM and art. He has also played basketball at the local YMCA since the age of 4. His favorite team is the Harlem Globetrotters, and he is just as much of a clown on the court as off.

Anything you can donate will be graciously accepted. If you are not in a position to donate, we ask you to please repost or forward this. And please keep us in your thoughts. I’ve included some pictures of Ben so you have the opportunity to see the light in his eye and the zest he has for life. We trust that the doctors will work hard and help him beat this once again.

Thank you all in advance for your help and assistance.
