Help us FIGHT the Gel Blaster Ban in WA

Donation protected

This is a fundraising campaign for the Fight Against the Ban of Gel Blasters in Western Australia.

On June 15th, 2021 the Honorable Paul Papalia, Minister for Police and Minister for Veteran’s Affairs (among others) announced the blanket ban of gel blasters in WA, with them to be turned in to police before July 3rd or severe fines and penalties would apply.

The effects of this ban will include:

  • Alienating the hundreds of veterans that not only enjoy the hobby but also heavily rely on it for their mental health.
  • Taking away one of the only working methods of therapy for hundreds of sufferers of Anxiety Disorders.
  • Removing the benefit to mental health for some with moderate-to-severe disabilities as it's the only way for them to interact with others, improve engagement and more fully take part in the better aspects of recreation and community.
  • Destroying a safe, healthy and fun hobby that benefits thousands and has no negative impact on anyone, and benefits all who partake in it.

The gelball community of WA was never properly represented in any of the decisions and Perth GBG (Perth Gel Blaster Group) are but some of the many that are fighting against this decision in the best ways possible. We know Minister Papalia can do better for the people of WA and still do right by the WA Police the general public safety.

This thing doesn’t have to happen in a way that’s going to do irreparable damage to the lives and physical and mental health of thousands of West Australians. We can all work together to find a way forward that can avoid the inevitable devastation while still maintaining 100% of the proposed benefits to public safety and Police concern.

In addition to losing the business and being out-of-pocket for hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost stock and facility investment, we have garnered the help of the Best Firearms Lawyers in Australia, and we're out-of-pocket for this as well, while there is no end in sight for how these changes to law are going to play out.

We'd love to continue the fight ahead and we simply can't without your help

We have a dedicated page on our website that will document what costs we're dealing with and how we're handling them.

Any leftover funds will be going to an Australian Veteran's Charity (suggestions welcome).

You can also help by signing our online petition (which has thousands of signatures within days).

You can go to our website and see What You Can Do To Help with things like how to download and print our Petition to Parliament, emailing your Local MP and sharing Your Gelball Story to give this fight a human face (and consequence).
