Help Us Fight Paco's Cancer Together

Many years ago in Puerto Rico, my brother, Francisco Vazquez (Paco, Pica, Fran) was diagnosed with Leukemia. After some time and with the help of his friends and family he beat it and was in remission for a while. During this time, he developed a rare type of cancer that went unnoticed until a random visit to the ER for abdominal pain and difficulty eating led to an emergency surgery to remove parts of a Stage 4 tumor on his small intestine. This was the beginning of a difficult process of battling a second cancer in less than 5 years.

He started treatment back home on the island full of hope, but things didn’t work out as expected. Treatment wasn’t working and my brother and his wife started to lose hope. The pain was getting worse, and doctors didn’t have concrete answers. The side effects of the treatment were so hard on him that he needed to quit his job as a college professor. The pandemic made it even more difficult for his compromised immune system to travel and get adequate treatment within the island.

In an attempt to give Paco a better chance my sister and I invited him to come to the USA and seek a different approach to his cancer treatment. It was a sacrifice for them to be uprooted from their homeland but there was hope of being able to beat the cancer and get to his family and back to the gaming passion he shares with his wife and many friends around the globe.

Life in NJ is a lot more expensive and although treatment has started Paco has a long way to go and now, he needs some financial assistance to be able to support his fight here in NJ.
