Help us fight my mom's battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Kind Souls,

I am Nasser Amparna and I am reaching out today with a heavy but hopeful heart to share the story of my beloved mother, Melodie Baloy. She was born on March 23, 1967, and is now 58 years old — a loving, cheerful, and fiercely resilient woman who has always put her family’s happiness before her own.

The BIOPSY RESULT
Our lives took an unexpected turn when we received the devastating diagnosis: Stage 4 transverse colon cancer with metastasis. This has not only been a physical battle for her but a tremendous emotional and financial challenge for our family.

SIGNS WE IGNORED
Our journey began with subtle signs we initially overlooked. My mom, who has diabetes and high cholesterol, often complained of stomach pain. We thought it was just part of her health conditions, and she dismissed it with medication. But as months went by, her condition worsened. She experienced severe stomach pain, occasional chest pains, and unexplained weight loss. She also became anemic and in her lab works, her hemoglobin is unusually low. Despite these signs, we continued to delay proper diagnosis, hoping it would resolve on its own.

In September 2025, her health took a more alarming turn. She showed signs of stroke—slurred speech and numbness—leading to hospitalizations and tests that revealed more concerning issues. We focused on treating her stroke, but her body continued to weaken, and her inability to eat due to abdominal pain grew worse.

In October 2025, a crucial CT scan uncovered the harsh truth: a mass in her colon, affecting her liver, bladder, uterus, and small intestine. Biopsies confirmed the worst—she has advanced cancer. The doctors explained that surgery might be possible, but with high risks and costs, especially since her condition has metastasized.

We anxiously prepared for her operation, which took place in November 2025. Though the surgery didn’t remove the entire tumor, it helped create a pathway for her to eat again. She now has an ileostomy bag and is fighting hard to regain her strength. Despite the pain, the struggles with her new condition, and the emotional toll, she remains a beacon of hope and resilience.

FAMILY OF FOUR
Today, I am humbly asking for your help. Our family is facing overwhelming medical expenses and upcoming chemotherapy treatment, and my mother’s treatment is crucial for her to continue fighting this battle on top of all the consumables she needs like ileostomy bag, gauze, NSS for irrigation, etc.

We are a family of four, I am the sole breadwinner, with my stepdad unemployed and my stepbrother with a disability, making this journey even more challenging.

Your support—no matter the amount—will go directly towards her ongoing treatments, medications, and care. My mom has a lot of maintenance including medications and for her ileostomy care. More than anything, we need your prayers, kindness, and generosity to help us give her the chance to heal, to smile again, and to cherish more moments with her loved ones.

We believe that nothing is impossible. My mother’s spirit is strong, and with your help, we hope to extend her life and bring back her joy.

As we have shared a while ago about the signs we ignored, Please, don’t ignore the signs. Early detection saves lives.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion and support. Together, we can fight this disease and give my mom the hope and strength she needs.

ADDED: HOW DONATIONS WILL BE USED

This is where I humbly ask for your continued support. I am currently the only one working in our family, and my resources are limited. My only wish is for my mom to receive the treatment she truly deserves—treatment that will ease her pain, strengthen her body, and give her a real chance at recovery.

The planned FOLFOX chemotherapy consists of 12 cycles, given every two weeks over a period of six months.
• Each cycle requires hospital admission for at least 3 days, costing approximately ₱40,000–₱50,000 (USD 700–850) excluding medications.
• The chemotherapy medications—Oxaliplatin, 5-Fluorouracil, Filgrastim, and Folinic Acid (Calcium Folinate)—can be purchased outside the hospital at around ₱10,000 (USD 170) per cycle.
• These costs do not yet include doctors’ professional fees, additional lab tests, and other medical consumables.

In total, we are preparing an estimated ₱75,000–₱85,000 (USD 1,275–1,450) per cycle.
For all 12 cycles, the projected total is approximately ₱900,000–₱1,020,000 (USD 15,600–17,300).

I am currently on unpaid leave, and being without income for the past two months has been extremely challenging. Despite this, we remain hopeful and determined. To ensure full transparency, you may access this excel sheet file for a detailed expense, so everyone can see exactly how the funds are being used.
