In February 2026, our lives were turned upside down when our beautiful baby girl, TreNae Smith, was diagnosed with cancer at just 2 years old. Doctors found four tumors in her abdomen and additional spots in her lungs. Since that moment, nothing has been the same for our family. TreNae has already faced more than most people do in a lifetime. She has died twice, and both times, she was brought back to us. Those are moments no parent should ever have to live through.
While at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, TreNae had to be placed under heavy sedation for nearly two weeks just to keep her alive. When she would cry or become upset, the largest tumor would swell and press against her lungs, cutting off her oxygen. Watching your child struggle to breathe is a pain that words cannot fully describe. The sedation wasn’t a choice — it was the only way to protect her life. She now has a PICC line and began chemotherapy about four weeks ago. Through everything, TreNae continues to fight with a strength that amazes everyone around her. By the grace of God, her tumors are beginning to shrink.
About a week and a half ago, she was transferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since then, she has been slowly coming off sedation and is starting to wake up more each day. She’s now in physical therapy, working to regain her strength and mobility — taking small steps in a very big fight. Her mother has not left her side through any of this. She has been on leave from work, choosing to be exactly where she’s needed most — with her daughter. Because when your child is fighting for their life, everything else stops. But the truth is, while our world has stopped, life hasn’t. The bills keep coming. Responsibilities don’t pause. And the weight of trying to survive financially while fighting for your child’s life is overwhelming.
We are asking for your help — not just for financial support, but for understanding, prayers, and compassion. Anything you can give will help ease the burden so TreNae’s mother can focus on what truly matters: being there for her baby as she fights every single day to stay here. Please help us support TreNae. Please help us give her the chance she deserves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
