Hey Guys my name Is Keana and I have organised this page on behalf of Renee & Nathan as their 4 year old daughter Tova has recently been diagnosed with Paediatric Myeloid Dysplasia.

Over the past 12 months her parents knew something wasn't right, she bruised easily, she was always so tired-sometimes sleeping 14hours a day. She had recurring fevers with no clear cause, her appetite dropped. Countless GP appointments only to be told its viral she will get better- and she did for a few days, but this cycle continued.

They kept demanding answers trusting their instincts after many abnormal blood tests with no answers their next step was to Women's & Children's ED- they listened and agreed something was not right. Thankfully they ordered Genetic testing which led to many more blood tests and most recently a Bone Marrow Biopsy.

This is where everything changed, they received news no parent is ever prepared for.

Tova's bone marrow is not producing healthy blood cells the way it should. She has excess abnormal blast cells and significant blood abnormalities. This means she is at significantly high risk of developing Leukemia within months if left untreated.

The medical team has informed them she needs major Specialist Paediatric care at Sydney's Children's Hospital in Randwick for 4-6 months. This means relocating their family 18hours away from home in Port Pirie.

This time away will involve intensive monitoring, Chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant once a suitable donor is found.

This is the only treatment that offers the best chance of a cure.

Right now all their focus is on her-keeping her safe, keeping her comfortable and giving her every chance at a healthy and long future.

But the reality is overwhelming.

She is brave beyond words, she still smiles, still cuddles and shows more strength then most adults ever have to. She deserves the best possible care, and we will do everything in our power to give that to her.
