Our names are Mark and Amanda, and we are reaching out with a heavy heart. Our 10-year-old Chihuahua, Ruca, was recently diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. We adopted Ruca when she was only six weeks old, and she quickly became the center of our world. Weighing in at only two pounds, she ran the household (and still does).
Ruca has been with us through our entire relationship/20’s including several moves, trips, and general highs and lows of life. She was our first child when we couldn’t have any and battled infertility. Now that we have a baby on the way, everyone asks, “how will the dogs handle a baby?” My immediate response is Ruca will love and cuddle her because she is truly one of the sweetest smartest chihuahuas we have ever met. We can’t imagine this next chapter without her.
Her diagnosis came as a shock, and while there are treatment options that could give her more time and a good quality of life, they are very costly. Between preparing for a new baby and managing everyday expenses, we simply cannot afford this fight on our own.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Ruca’s medical care, treatments, and helping her stay comfortable. Even sharing this page means the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Ruca’s story, and for any support you can give. Our hope is to give her the love and care she deserves for as long as possible.
With gratitude,
Mark, Amanda, Ruca, and Luna
