Hi everyone,
We are the Jaffry’s family and we are proud resident of Westland, Michigan. We never thought we will be in this position—but we are now facing court over something deeply personal and important: our right to keep backyard chickens.
We have been raising our chickens responsibly and peacefully. They bring joy, fresh eggs, a sustainable food source, and teach valuable lessons about nature and responsibility. But despite having had them before the city passed its new ordinance, We are now being forced to either give them up—or go to court to fight for what we (and many others) believe is a basic right.
This fight isn’t just about us. It’s about every resident in Westland who believes in sustainable living, food independence, and having the freedom to raise animals responsibly on their own property.
I am now raising $3,000 to help cover legal fees and court costs as I take this battle to the next level. Every dollar will go directly toward:
• Legal representation
• Court filing fees
• Document preparation
• Any related city hearing or appeal costs
This case could set a powerful precedent for all Westland residents who want to raise chickens legally and ethically. Together, we can stand up for our rights and push for fairer, more forward-thinking policies.
Even if you can’t donate, please share this campaign to help spread awareness. Your support—financial or moral—means the world.
Let’s protect our rights. Let’s protect our chickens.
Thank you so much ❤️
