Layla is our life anyone who knows her and our family knows she is the world to us, she has multiple special needs, has had lots of health scares throughout her 13 years of life, but we have always managed to pull through and she is a fighter out family never gives up advocating and pushing for Layla to get what she deserves, Layla has very complex needs and is 100% dependent on others for her care, she has been through a tremendous amount of obstacles in her lifetime but always prevails, she is our hero and our inspiration to stay strong everyday. Layla loves being with her sisters, her family, cuddling with momma, going for walks, listening to music, spongebob SquarePants, dressing up, going to the beach, relaxing with her youngest sister hazel , and so much more ,

On May 20th 2022 our family's life turned upside down, this is difficult for me to have to say and comprehend that this is really happening every morning when I wake up since & we are truly living in a nightmare now,
  • On April 29th our entire house was tested positive for covid, we all had a bad case of it including Layla she was doing well with no fever or shortness of breathe, but had been throwing up periodically and having a lot of loose bowel movements for about 6 days, I was very sick as well and at one point almost went to the hospital, during this time Layla lost weight which is not abnormal for her when sick or in general keeping weight on has been a issue her hole 13 years , but was still in good health and happy otherwise so I didn't feel very concerned and I knew she also had a follow up ahead with her pcp I could talk with him then this is something she has Been in the hospital for in the past and is long standing in her medical history. moving on to may Layla gained a little of the weight back and she seemed to be doing better, Layla has had a stage 2 pressure ulcer on her right hip as well always since before she had her spine surgery and since she had covid I noticed it started to look red and irritated again but kept a close eye on it, I clean it and put a gauze over it everyday, well here comes may 20th and I receive a phone call from the nurse at Laylas school. She says she is very concerned about Layla and her hip ulcer, i told her I am aware it is looking more red and irritated but I have seen it like this in the past & she was just sitting in bed or her chair for almost a week when she had covid, she also hadn't received therapy due to having covid so that didn't help it ethier, the nurse said I needed to go the emergency room with her asap to my dismay and completely disregarding anything I said, she said if I didn't go there or call Dr she will make "some calls" so I of course went to the school and picked her up. Brought her to the Ed and we sat there for almost 7 hours, told the same story to them & they did not seems concerned ethier they said she is fine to go home and just follow up with her pcp on Wednesday as we had planned. 2 hrs go by and we were still waiting for "discharge paperwork" when suddenly a Dr I had never seen in our life's comes in to tell me Layla can't be discharged & she actually needs to be admitted she is very sick ! Extremely confused I became upset & explained to them this makes zero sense, we will follow up with her pcp as suggested on Wednesday and if he wants to admit her then , then we will then I have a 1, 7,& 9 year old at home so I can't just stop everything and suddenly be admitted when we were suppose to be going home, I asked them what does she Need to be admitted for and I was told for "refeeding syndrome concerns, she had been tolerating her feeds so I told them that doesn't make sense she hasn't been vomiting for the last few weeks since covid, the Dr said that they were more concerned about it because of the fact that she may be burning up more calories then she is taking in due to being sick recently etc. So I sucked it up and we were admitted, all weekend goes by with out a single issue. Monday came and a social worker comes to laylas room, tells me the hospital is extremely worried about Layla they think she lost too much weight and her hip wound is possibly infected, a Dr from the Ed called CPS on us and they would be here to speak with me and also had to go to the house and see Brandon and the girls because they feel I am neglecting or abusing Layla since she is in this state of health, cps worker came and went both places , stated that this is something that happens sometimes but don't worry because they just want to "help us " , moving on to yesterday, I received a call again from the cps worker , she begins to tell me the hospital told her she has been diagnosed with "refeeding syndrome and they don't feel comfortable allowing her to go home with me because that means I have been starving her or just not feeding her on purpose, and they just don't understand how her hip wound became bad again etheir so I must be hurting her to make it that way, the worker said they have no choice but to bring me & Brandon to family court with these findings and they will be requesting the court to have Layla temporarily removed from our care& our home, we have to go this coming Monday we found out all this yesterday at 1pm, we have no lawyer no public defender no paperwork, not even a time that we are suppose to be at the court so we can desperately try to fight and advocate foe our daughter and explain these are not new issues, she's been in this same hospital for these same excat issues and we were never once accused of such disgusting and untrue allegations. So now we sit here waiting in horror of what's to come, we have no legal aide to help us , and we are already trying to get by back and forth to the hospital everyday on one income gas prices are insane & now we get to go through this as if my family has not been through enough, we can't eat, sleep or even think clearly, we are not the type to ask for help but this is the scariest and most upsetting thing we have ever been through, I am planning to meet with a lawyer Monday after we go to court but don't have the extra funds to pay for a lawyer that we never thought we would need, I will have to drive to and from the hospital because that's where she will need to stay until they figure out placement if the judge agrees to have her removed from our care , I don't know how we will get through this , I dont know what is to come ahead for laylas future or our family's now , we are broken but we are going to fight , fight as hard and long as we have to to prove this is all completely false and Layla has always been in the best care with us ,she is our daughter , our hero , my best friend , we will never be OK again if this happens , if you can find it in your heart to help its very appreciated, I hope and pray that the judge sees the miscommunications going on here and I'll have better news to come in the next few weeks, thank you all for taking the time to listen and care! We love you all!
