Help us fight for justice in Taylor's death

Donation protected

We lost our oldest son, Taylor, to a hit and run in Phoneix on April 8th, 2018. He was a Junior at Grand Canyon University and was killed just 20 days before his wedding. A speeding vehicle swerved around stopped vehicles at a red light on Camelback, just off the GCU campus, and struck Taylor and his best friend Drew in the crosswalk as they were out for an evening run. Taylor was killed instantly. It then sped off with the husband, wife and children in the car. They burned the vehicle and lied to police about the car being stolen, instigating an elaborate cover-up. They were finally arrested on multiple charges on April 7th, 2021, three years after Taylor was killed. We have been living every parent's worst nightmare for the past 46 months.

In early December, the driver pled guilty to the one Class 2 Felony Maricopa County would bring: fleeing the scene of a fatal accident. The sentencing hearing is March 25th in Phoenix. We will be traveling from Colorado, Tennesee and Washington State to testify in the hearing, and are asking those who feel led to partner with us with the financial details. So many have supported us with prayer and more along the way, and have asked what practical needs we have. This is a very practical need you can come alongside our family in as we navigate what we hope are the final stages of the Criminal Case.

We also are considering pursuing a Civil Trial to bring justice for the other areas that Maricopa County was unwilling to pursue: second-degree murder, conspiracy to conceal a deadly crime, destruction of evidence, arson, etc. We're not sure if this is something we can pursue, but feel we're supposed to walk that out as far as we can. Because the family responsible seems to have zero resources, we will need to pay up front, out of pocket, to see if we can even bring a Civil Case. This isn't only about us and losing Taylor, this is about so many families who have had to endure an extreme lack of justice in horrifically devastating circumstances throughout Maricopa County and the nation.

We're hoping to initially raise $4000 to cover flight, hotel, car, and meal costs surrounding the sentencing hearing for us as well as Taylor's best friend, Drew. Included in that are the initial costs to determine if we can pursue a Civil Trial. If we wind up being able to pursue that, our expenses will go up considerably and we'll change the needed amount. The thousands of dollars we have already had to pay over the years are insane, and we don't want these expenses to add more burden as we navigate these deeply difficult next few months.

Thank you to those of you who have prayed and asked along the way how you could help. This nightmare has an insatiable appetite... impossible to calculate the loss. We thank God for those who have supported us as we navigate this dark, dark valley. We could not be where we are in pursuing health and life without your support. Thanks for loving us and walking this nightmare journey with us.
